Stream Wakefield Poole’s Bible! and a myriad of other classic, modern, sensual art-house favorites, on demand, via an inexpensive monthly membership at PinkLabel.TV.

On one level, “Wakefield Poole’s Bible!” the director’s eponymous, 1973-released Cecil B. DeMille by way of red light district biblical epic, is a magnificently shot pornographic film. On another level, it is a self-indulgent conflation of multiple biblical tales for the purpose of Poole agitating for sociopolitical causes. In both of these notions being true, Grade A art-house smut is created along the way. Moreover, in 30 minutes being given to telling the tale of how Delilah blew Samson, sapped his strength, then a mystical little person under Delilah’s protection cut his then thoroughly worthless hair, a point worth seriously contemplating is made. Never has there ever been in film a more impressive condemnation of the myth of the all-powerful penis. Examining blaxploitation pop culture in the era and women’s power and prowess being accepted as all-dominant in mainstream culture must be considered.
